Ferndale girls give generously to Red Cross door knocker

Lacinta Blakers (11) and her sister Cloe (10) did not hesitate to reach into their purses and donate to the cause when Mr Kilsby knocked on their door last month.

Lacinta said she donated 35c to the appeal because she knew it would help other people.

“Sometimes I think of people who don’t have anything compared to me,” she said.

The girls’ mother Michelle Blakers, who lost her job recently, said the family was doing it tough and she was proud of her daughters donating money to Red Cross.

“I used to push Cloe and Lacinta around the suburb in a pram when I collected for the Heart Foundation. They would have seen that the donation of small change can do big things,” she said.
