FOR much of her young life, Ferndale’s Hannah-Jade Keppler has been immersed in performing arts.
The triple threat, who sings, dances and acts, is one in a creative household where auditioning and performing are par for the course.
Therefore it is no surprise that, aged just 11, the youngster is preparing to premiere her maiden play- a seven-scene adventure story titled ‘Fantasy Land’.
Featuring a mysterious prophecy, plenty of adventure and imagination, Hannah-Jade said she hoped the play would become a series, and had started writing a second one.
“This is the first proper play I’ve written, I used to get skits up but this is the first proper play,” she said.
“The play is the first in a number I’m not sure of yet… I finished it in December 2015 and reworked it for a year before it was ready to be performed.”
The young playwright also wrote the score for the one-and-a-half hour play.
“I have been able to read and write music for quite some time,” she said.
The play follows a “spoilt rich kid from London” named Lillian who is whisked to the mysterious Fantasy Land by a magical elf named Asher who thinks she is the chosen one to defeat the Dark Lord.
The all-child cast of 15 is directed by mother Gerri Keppler as Hannah-Jade takes the lead role.
“I wrote it imagining I would play Lillian,” she said.
“Since I’m playing Lillian and I’m in every scene but the third I am co-directing with mum.”
It will not be Hannah-Jade’s first time treading the boards, the youngster has been on TV show The Couch, competed in Talent Quest, featured in Oliver in the ensemble, as Brigitta in The Sound of Music, and competed in Eisteddfods throughout the metropolitan area.
“Singing, acting and dancing are my hobbies,” she said.
