Four males charged over an assault in East Cannington

KENSINGTON Detectives have charged four males over an assault on two people in East Cannington in the early hours of Sunday, July 1.

It will be alleged between 12.30am and 12.50am, two groups of males were involved in an altercation outside the Crawford Street house of the victims.

The 40 year old resident went to his front yard after hearing knocking on his front door.

One of the groups then left the area, while the other group stayed.

The man was then assaulted by the group, and knocked to the ground. He continued being assaulted as he lay on the ground.

His 29 year old female partner attempted to assist him, but was also assaulted.

The group then left the area in a vehicle.

Attending police located the group in nearby Elizabeth Street, and they were arrested.

Both victims were taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital.

The man received a broken ankle and abrasions, while the woman received bruising injuries.

He will remain in hospital and require surgery on his ankle in the coming days.

An 18 year old man of Ballajura and an 18 year old man of Sinagra have been charged with With Intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm and Act or Omission causing Bodily Harm.

They will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on today.

A 17 year old boy of Ashfield and a 17 year old boy of Bassendean have been charged with With Intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm and Act or Omission causing Bodily Harm, and will appear before the Perth Children’s Court today.

Detectives are still seeking information or witnesses to the incident.
