SHOP at Rossmoyne IGA next month and help to bring Christmas cheer to local women in need.

The local supermarket has teamed up with Canning Councillor Yaso Ponnuthurai to create food hampers for women at Zonta House in Willetton.

“Zonta House provide a safe refuge for women in need and I felt it was important to show them that other women in the community care,’’ she said.

From December 1 to 13 Rossmoyne IGA will have a donation box near the checkout where locals can donate non-perishable food items and cash to Zonta House.

On December 13, volunteers will get together outside the local IGA to wrap about 100 food hampers.

Cash donations will be given to Zonta House for purchase of fresh food items, such as a Christmas ham, fruits and vegetables.

“Last year we were blown away with the support of the hamper drive organised by Cr Ponnuthurai and Rossmoyne Fresh IGA,’’ Zonta House chief executive Kelda Oppermann said.

“Our team are encouraged and motivated by the individual community members coming together to ensure women and families we support do not go without during the Christmas period.”

Rossmoyne IGA is at 55 Central Avenue, Rossmoyne.
