International Water Safety Day: Cannington Leisureplex offering swimming classes for people from different cultures

INTERNATIONAL Water Safety Day is the perfect time to launch your youngster’s love for swimming according Canning chief executive Lyn Russell.

The Cannington Leisureplex offers swimming lessons specially designed for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds removed barriers to people learning to swim.

“Learning to swim is so important (and) with such a diverse community it is important that the City provides inclusive water safety programs to cater for people from different cultural backgrounds,” Ms Russell said.

Cannington Leisureplex swim instructor Tisa is originally from Indonesia, she joined the classes initially to enjoy the social aspect but has since become a swimming teacher to help children.

The Leisureplex runs classes for CaLD women all year round, and runs CaLD children’s classes in terms two and three.
