ENTHUSIASTIC Year 4 students at Wilson Primary School are checking their sources and preparing copy ahead of the publication of their first newspaper.
Teacher Sophie Beasley said it would be an entertaining read for the school community, covering hot topics ranging from environmental initiatives to what is on the canteen menu.
It is the first time the school has participated in such a project and, according to Mrs Beasley, the youngsters jumped at the assignment.
“They have really taken to it and have been studying local newspapers,” she said.
Mrs Beasley said it was a precursor to further study into report writing.
“It has been really motivating for them and the project has given them real life experience,” she said.
The edition went to print last week.
