KENT Street Weir has reopened after a $4.8 million upgrade to the walkway, weir gates and operating mechanisms plus the inclusion of a new fishway.
The weir now offers a wider bridge with two viewing platforms and has been brought into line with the aesthetic of other architectural features in the Canning River Regional Park.
Construction began in May last year and was managed by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, in conjunction with the City of Canning and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
