Kitty of Canning: City to make use of southern animal care facility

Pia van StraalenCanning Gazette

SHARED resources with neighbouring councils has enabled City of Canning to send seized or lost cats to a Como animal care facility, rather than the Shenton Park Cat Haven.

The City formalised an agreement with the City of South Perth to house cats at the facility, which opened in 2014.

The regional facility will be used by the cities of South Perth, Canning, Gosnells, and the Town of Victoria Park.

Calling it a “great example” of how local governments can share resources, Canning chief executive Arthur Kyron welcomed the partnership.

He said the facility would be much closer for City of Canning residents hoping to retrieve or adopt cats.
