The 24-year-old business management student made the comments after the news that the State Government would increase the cost of some Tafe courses by more than 500 per cent by 2017.

‘If they wanted to increase fees, that would be fine, but they need to notify students six months or a year before it happens,’ he said.

‘I figured that the fees would be going up by 100 per cent or so, but to hear that it could be 500 per cent is ridiculous.’

Mr Abdul Rasheed said one of his friends studying IT was notified a month ago about a $600 increase to his fees.

Mr Rasheed said students were already paying too much for their studies.
