Living below the poverty line for the third time

Staff ReporterCanning Gazette

Ms Chong (20) will take part in the annual campaign for the third time and hopes to encourage others to join her.

‘Live Below the Line is a great way to remind me how lucky I am and it’s one of the most inspiring five days of the year for me as I watch myself, my donors and fellow Live Below the Liners take time out of their busy schedules to help others who live in extreme poverty,’ Ms Chong said.

The campaign is run by Oaktree and aims to raise funds for education projects in the Asia-Pacific region, something Ms Chong said she was passionate about.

‘I know how lucky I am to go to university and believe education is the key to lifting people out of extreme poverty,’ she said.
