Lynwood Senior High students learn about sustainability

Pia van StraalenCanning Gazette

WITH just the smallest action, the individual can make a positive change.

That was the message on sustainability that Lynwood Senior High School students took home after a week-long education event that filled the school with living fauna and upcycled items in a bid to encourage a focus on the environment.

Sustainability Week challenged the students to see the social and environmental reasons behind the week, and included a staff versus student debate on multi-culturalism that the students won with flying colours.

Other events included a staff versus student basketball match, where staff won by a point, and an all-day expo where creatures and stakeholders came to further educate the students.

Deputy Principal Joanne Willesee said the week brought a brilliant atmosphere to the school with a buzz of enthusiasm and excitement.

“The week brought the students together and gave them a sense of fun while still learning. They were working with mates to be kind to one another,” she said.
