Mall to Mall ride to raise money for beyondblue

“I’ve had it in the back of my mind for a long time,” he said.

After undertaking the gruelling 870-kilometre South-West Munda Biddi trail, Mr Bowman put Mall ride the wheels in motion to accomplish his long-held dream.

“I turned 60 last year and I thought the time was right, but I chose to do it for charity after a colleague told me not to waste the opportunity to raise money,” he said.

“I immediately chose beyondblue because the money stays in Australia and helps people who generally suffer in silence.”

Kicking off from Melbourne’s Bourke Street Mall on March 4, Mr Bowman will ride 100km day of the 3800km journey, which he expects to finish in mid-April at the Hay Street Mall.

The ride, titled Mall to Mall will go through Ballarat, Mildura, then the Barossa before heading to Port Augusta, Norseman and Brookton and finish at the Hay Street Mall.

Mr Bowman said he will ride most of the journey alone, and camp along the way at night.
