Merger to strengthen Tafe education

Bryce LuffCanning Gazette

VOCATIONAL education in Perth’s southern corridor should be strengthened by a recent shake-up, according to interim managing director Terry Duran.

Ms Duran said merging Challenger Institute of Technology and Polytechnic West to create South Metropolitan Tafe, as part of training sector reform initiated by the State Government, would mean more choices for students.

“By bringing together two strong names in vocational education and training, South Metropolitan Tafe includes 17 campuses collaborating more closely under a single administrative entity that will enhance the student experience in terms of training, support services and facilities,” she said.
