THEY may come from India, Indonesia or even Ireland, but that did not stop seniors living at SwanCare’s Kingia and Tandara care facilities in Bentley celebrating Chinese New Year in style.
The longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar, Chinese New Year brought out dozens of residents to celebrate their diverse cultural heritage and the Year of the Rooster with the help of a visiting lion dance troupe.
It performed eye-catching dance and acrobatic moves, entertaining the audience for almost an hour.
SwanCare chief executive Graham Francis, said Chinese New Year gave Kingia and Tandara residents, as well as staff, a chance to celebrate cultural diversity, as well as inject a little fun into their day.
“Our seniors, along with many of our staff, are looking forward to celebrating Chinese New Year 2017,” he said.
“It’s a fun and important way for everyone involved to experience aspects of Chinese culture in an inclusive way.
“Our residents hail from a range of countries, all of whom enjoy being part of our wider community and have incredible respect for each other’s cultures.”
