Ms Mbewe has lived in Perth for several years, after moving from Lusaka in Zambia.

Shumi Tsungu established FOAA, now in its second year, with the aim of inspiring young African people living in Australia.

“(We hope) to encourage them to explore their dreams and aspiration by providing a platform to showcase their creative talents and integrate with the local community,” Ms Tsungu said.

African models, designers and entertainers thrilled the audience from the opening drum performance by African Oz Drum N Dance to the modern fusion of Elan Dance Est and enjoyable musing from MC Joe White.

FOAA launched a magazine in November 2015 as part of the Perth Fashion Festival Cultural Program.

The lifestyle magazine showcases fashion trendsetters, beauty, entertainment and culture from around Australia.

The second issue of the FOAA magazine was released at the FOAA 2016 event, and is available for sale online through the FOAA website.

The magazine provides exposure to up-and-coming fashion designers to help them reach new markets
