John Knowles is the chief executive of Good Samaritan Industries.
He said that on Thursday, May 23, Good Samaritan stores throughout WA had their best business day in the organisation’s history.
‘Thursday, May 23, was our best day ever,’ Mr Knowles said. ‘Our profits were actually 5 per cent more than the best day we have ever recorded.’
He explained why the charity had done so well.
‘We’ve had great, but cold weather; lots of good quality winter stock and our donations are at record levels,
‘Generous West Australians are giving us more than ever before and because the economy is tightening we are seeing people come back to us.’
Mr Knowles said people now had a better understanding about the need to recycle. ‘There is a general trend, from not only residents, but government authorities and consumer groups about the need to recycle’
