Pia van StraalenCanning Gazette

STUDENTS from Willetton Senior High School rang in the new school year with brand new facilities.

The start of the school year marked the end of the $14.2 million school rebuild, which followed on from stage one upgrades, completed in 2015 to the tune of $39 million.

The completed stage includes a two-storey and single storey build and has 16 learning areas, incidental learning areas, support and store rooms, a medical centre, IT area, and an enclosed eating area, a medical centre and staff areas.

Riverton MLA Mike Nahan welcomed the completion.

“The rebuild of Willetton SHS is one of my proudest achievements as the Member for Riverton, and it’s incredibly special to see the new facilities open for the school year,” he said.

“For years I worked with Principal Chris Booth, the school board and its P&C, as well as the wider Willetton community to secure the funding required to rebuild Willetton SHS.

“To see these new facilities open and being used to educate Willetton students is really special to me, and I know it means a lot to the whole community.”
