The installation titled “Our River: Connecting our Communities” was produced by Fremantle artist Samantha Hughes in partnership with Canning Libraries, Canning River Eco Education Centre (CREEC) and Riverton Primary School.
The library’s new mural depicts the Canning River and was painted by local schoolchildren through a series of art workshops.
Artist Samantha Hughes said working with the children was a great inspiration in the choice of colour, material and design. “I drew inspiration from the students’ beautiful flora and fauna illustrations,” she said.
