Planting in the home stretch

Staff ReporterCanning Gazette

The planting area has had a history of weed infestation that has affected native species but since a fire in 2011 it has been under weed management to encourage native plants to recolonise the area, improving habitat and the health of the Canning River.

Two Rivers Catchment Group member Vicky Hartill said the day would be the culmination of three years of hard work, with volunteers finishing planting on the stretch of foreshore.

The Canning City Lions Club will be providing a barbecue lunch for volunteers.
