Poppies pay tribute to centenary

City of Canning chief executive Lyn Russell said the library had invited the community, including knitting groups, to knit and crotchet poppies.

By February 2015, there were 2600 poppies created, with 700 sent to Melbourne for the 5000 Poppies project. One hundred poppies were sent to Albany last year to mark the 100th anniversary of the first troops departing for Gallipoli.

Remaining poppies will be on display at the library until the first week of May.
