WHEN the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie– that’s a party.

Last Thursday, Italian residents at Bentley’s Swan Care celebrated Festa della Repubblica– Italian Independence Day– with a pizza cook off at the care facility.

From traditional to modern, no pizza style was off the menu when the residents rolled their bases onto the hot pizza stone.

Everyone was a winner in the competition, as they tucked into the cheesy delights.

SwanCare diversional therapy coordinator Teresa Strelley said residents of all backgrounds were involved with preparing the feast, and there had been a number of practice runs.

“Our residents have loved preparing for our Italian Day celebrations, and they’ve very much enjoyed having the opportunity to show off their culinary skills,” she said.

“They’ve also enjoyed being involved in cooking food for themselves and for their fellow residents, and of course the icing on the cake is that they’ve been able to enjoy eating the end result.”
