RIVERTON Primary School have given their undercover area a makeover with the unveiling of a new mural.

The mural is the work of the school’s Year 5 students, who collaborated with artist Haylee ‘Fieldey’ Fieldes and Murdoch University students to bring the vision to life.

Tasked with preparing an artwork which focused on Australia and geography, students were helped by their graphic designer and visual arts teacher Ali Blackwell.

Deputy principal Rebecca Lewis said recent vandalism at the school provided a chance to revitalise their large undercover area.

“Riverton Primary has recently renamed its faction houses which are based on local rivers: Bickley, Canning, Mills & Bannister. The animal mascots chosen as features for the mural represent each house,” she said.

“The undercover area is a well-used space and launching the mural has provided the opportunity for the P&C and School Board to come together and engage with the community to celebrate our new mural design.”
