DJ Lachlan Barrett hit the decks professionally for the first time when he was just 10.
Now the 12-year-old from Riverton and his friend Bryn Chatfield (13), of Willetton – aka DJ Bryn – are busy entertaining all ages with their turntables.
Lachlan set up the business DJ Lachlan, buying quality lights, speakers and decks with pocket money saved for the venture.
The enterprising youngster also designed his own business cards, complete with an impressive logo, and built a website for his fledgling business.
He even has an Instagram and You Tube channel.
Lachlan said he loved being a DJ and hoped to one day make a living out of it.
“I love that we can entertain people,” he said.
“I have a setup of five amazing light effects that include a bubble machine and a fog machine. I use a great sound speaker setup and have extra speakers for large events or venues.”
His preferred style of music is ‘house’ while Bryn likes ‘dubstep’ music, a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London, England, in the late 1990s.
Both boys are into the music of Bruno Mars, Twenty One Pilots and Canadian DJ deadmau5.
Lachlan and Bryn have so far played five gigs, including parties for adults and children.
Lachlan’s mother Melanie Robson helps her son with transport.
