RATHER than taking over the earth, when robots invaded Curtin University last week they were there for good, not evil.
More than 600 students from schools all over the state, including Cannington Community College, Riverton Primary School, Willetton Primary School and Willetton Senior High School, converged on Curtin University Stadium for the Western Australian RoboCup Junior State Event.

READ NOWStudents designed, built and coded their own robots, which they then entered into categories such as maze, soccer and rescue, as well as showing off their dance and theatre skills in on-stage performance.
The popular annual event is organised by Scitech, with chief executive Deb Hancock saying the two-day competition was a great way for students to show off a range of STEM skills.
“RoboCup Junior allows students to apply skills like coding, robotics, engineering, programming and maths in a fun yet competitive setting,” she said.
Winners from each state event are able to compete in the Australian finals.
