Rossmoyne Primary Year 2 students put potatoes to the test in Olympiad event

THE versatility of the humble potato was put to the test when the Year 2 class at Rossmoyne Primary School recruited the vegetable for a school-based Olympiad.

Teacher Lauren Wells capitalised on Olympic and Paralympics fever by structuring a class on measurement around sporting events such as diving, high jump and throwing.

Potatoes of all sizes with individual profiles and faces helped the youngsters learn volume, distance, time and capacity to get varied data.

Ms Wells said it was an excellent way to encourage the children to learn challenging concepts in a fun way.
