YOUNG musicians from Rostrata Primary School entertained residents from aged care facilities from the region at the annual Tunes in June concert last week.

A group of 10 residents from Adventist Residential Care enjoyed some toe tapping music by senior, junior and training bands from the primary school.

Along with special guest –retired principal Mr Tom Campbell who started the band program in 1997– the audience enjoyed the band from set up to pack down before tucking into an afternoons tea.

Each band performed three pieces, starting with the training band, then the junior band followed by the senior band. The three bands totalling 117 students then combined for a big finale of another three pieces.

Led by teacher Annette De Hoog the students excelled during the entertaining set.

“All of the bands performed magnificently and those who attended were amazed at the ability of primary school students,” she said.
