SBL: Willetton Tigers win three of four weekend games

WILLETTON Tigers women displayed tremendous effort to defeat Stirling Senators 80-45.

Kate Malpass showed her worth by pulling in three rebounds, two steals, three assists and 20 points while Zoe Harper had 10 rebounds and 12 points, as well as an assist and a steal.

The Tigers second game against Hawks was another dominating win (75-34), putting them second on the ladder heading into round 10.

Louella Tomlinson was unstoppable in the game, giving the Hawks no chance, putting in a huge nine blocks, three offensive rebounds, nine defensive rebounds, five assists, four steals and 21 points.

Willetton Tigers men lost to the Senators 98-109, but redeemed themselves against the Hawks in a nail biter 92-91.

In the final two minutes the Tigers climbed from 87-90 down after Jay Bowie pulled in a defensive rebound followed by Charles Funches, who pulled in second, before passing to Kyle Armour who was fouled and went for two shots for unsportsmanlike like foul- sinking both and putting the score at 89-90.

The Hawks scrambled for a one-pointer from a free throw, before Bowie went for a basket and received and extra free throw shot, sinking it and putting the scores at 92-91 with 3.9 seconds to go.

Both sides take on the South West Slammer on May 14, with the women tipping off at 6pm and the men at 8pm.
