IT was at Winterworld Fremantle two years ago that Tara Noon fell in love with ice skating.

The nine-year-old from Willetton is now competing at state level and spent her school holidays performing at this year’s Winterworld festival.

Mum Andie Noon said Tara was a natural and felt right at home on the ice.

“Winterworld was on two years ago at Fremantle and Tara wanted to go skating as part of her birthday present,” she said,

That was the very first time she had been ice skating.

“After that, she begged us to pursue the sport and we enrolled her in the Learn to Skate program at Cockburn Ice Arena.”

Now training four to five times a week and attending coaching lessons three times a week, Tara is keen to turn her passion into a career.

Tara said skating made her happy and despite a few nervous butterflies, she loved performing in front of a crowd.

“I want to be a professional figure skater and be able to do the triple axels,’’ she said.

“I also dream of representing Australia in the Olympics one day and making Australia proud.”
