THE St Vincent de Paul Society’s long-awaited purpose built facility is opening in Canning Vale, and volunteers are needed.

The new facility will accommodate an administration office, depot, financial counselling service, emergency relief call centre, along with a new Vinnies Shop in Canning Vale.

Vinnies chief executive Mark Fitzpatrick said moving from the current Belmont site would build the capacity for the future.

“By moving to a larger site we can be more efficient in our service delivery and grow our capacity to assist more people now and into the future,” he said.

“The move has created an opportunity for many varied volunteer opportunities to become available.

“The St Vincent de Paul Society relies on volunteers to undertake much of its work and they are the reason we are able to provide the support we do.”

Volunteers undertake numerous roles throughout the Society; the depot is looking for truck drivers, people to perform general office duties, and people to sort clothing and donated items.

There is also a need for volunteers in the emergency relief call centre, shop volunteers and many other diverse roles.

Volunteers will enjoy working in a supportive environment and will be fully trained for the role.

“I know they will find it really rewarding being a volunteer with Vinnies,” Mr Fitzpatrick said.

“Our volunteers always have a great time and enjoy the opportunity to give back to the community by giving some of their time.”

The St Vincent de Paul Society is a member and volunteer based organisation providing assistance to people experiencing disadvantage including assistance with food, material items, utility bills and rental assistance as well as advocacy and friendship.
