The St Vincent de Paul Riverton Conference assisted Kanaga Sinnasamy and his family with emergency supplies when their Canning Vale rental house caught fire and forced them to live out of a car.

The Sinnasamy family found a new rental in Willetton and received donations from residents and the Riverton Conference.

Mr Sinnasamy said the Riverton Conference supplied his family with clothes, a bed and a table.

‘We are doing well, people have been very helpful,’ Mr Sinnasamy said.

‘We are settling in to the new house and are very grateful to everyone who has helped us.’

The St Vincent de Paul retail store in Willetton also provides clothes and furniture.

Manager Carol Thompson said the shop had 40 volunteers.

‘We are always looking for more volunteers. It is a great way to help out those in the community that need it most,’ Ms Thompson said.

Vinnies’ Christmas appeal, starting in November, will allow the group to deliver hampers and toys to children. Anyone interested in donating or volunteering can call the Willetton branch on 9354 7925.
