COLOURFUL street art could soon adorn buildings in the City of Canning after a decision at last month’s council meeting.
Councillor Pauline Tarrant’s motion for a City art mural project drew unanimous support from fellow councillors.
The City will report to council on the availability of blank walls in visible locations suitable for murals and provide a proposal for public art in these areas.
“For many, the City of Canning is often a ‘drive through’ city rather than a destination,” Cr Tarrant said. “Public art in key locations can provide a point of interest sufficient to prompt people to stop and see what we have to offer.”
She said public art murals could also reduce the prevalence of graffiti.
