YOUNGSTERS from Gibbs Street Primary School in East Cannington got creative for their annual Easter Hat Parade.

The tradition, which encourages students to decorate Easter themed hats, is popular among the student body, with all 440 children participating ahead of their four-day break last week.

Deputy principal Dee Doubikin said children made their hats in class .

“A lot of the children make them at home, but during Technology and Design, the children make an Easter bonnet,” she said.

“The students make their hats, plan it and design it… then wear it.”

Miss Doubikin said the event was a staple on the event calender, and Kindy to Year 6 all enthusiastically participate.

“They do enjoy it, it’s been going for over 20 years… it becomes a fun thing for the children to do and the whole school enjoys participating,” she said.
