“I have been with SwanCare for almost 10 years, commencing as the lay Aged Care Ministry Coordinator for the Victoria Park Deanery, then being ordained Deacon, and now Priest,” she said.

“I am thankful to SwanCare, firstly for welcoming me with open arms and then continuing to support me in my journey.”

While SwanCare is a non-denominational organisation, providing spiritual care to aged care residents is vitally important according to SwanCare chief executive Graham Francis.

“Faith remains an incredibly important part of life for many of our residents and we are proud to have Reverend Lyn here at SwanCare,” Mr Francis said.

On Tuesday, The Reverend debuted her new green chasuble and stole – a liturgical vestment worn by clergy for the celebration of the Eucharist – which was purchased using a donation by SwanCare.

The stole will soon be embroidered with a swan as a nod to SwanCare for supporting her vocation.

According to the Australian Anglican Directory website there are 47 female priests in the Perth diocese.
