The school community helped raise about $10,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.

Staff member Lance Taylor shaved off his moustache for the first time in 32 years and principal Chris Booth also did not escape the clippers.

Willetton school board executive officer and interactive club co-ordinator Helen Wong said money raised would go to research and patient support.

‘The atmosphere was abuzz with fun and was very positive,’ Ms Wong said.

‘It was wonderful to see the fantastic, caring nature of students and staff shining through. We received great support from the entire school community and we value the lessons learnt by the students’ contribution to their community.’

The school’s interactive club, which is a junior version of Rotary, organised the event.

Each year, the club chooses one local and one overseas charity to support.
