‘We’re a team of three who all met when our children first started at Willetton Primary School and we still remain a tight group even though our children have progressed to high school,’ he said.

The HAGS took part last year, raising $23,000, so Mr Dorlandt said he knew what lay ahead ” the good and the bad.

‘The friendship and spirit of the whole riding and support group is second to none and given the remoteness of the environment along the Gibb River Road, people certainly relax and look out for each other, but importantly have loads of fun for a great cause,’ he said.

‘Camping is in swags or tents, very basic and the food is mess-style, but fantastic at the end of a long day’s ride, which can be up to eight hours of riding as we traverse 700km of the Gibb River Road over 4.5 days.

‘The ride will be hot, sweaty, dusty, rocky and no doubt more than a few punctures and a headwind, but the reward is the serenity, scenery and dollars being raised for the RFDS.’
