The club, which has 340 members, relies on volunteers to maintain its buildings and the gardens and lawn that surround the bowling greens.
Mr McMillan Brown, who has been a member of the club since 1968, recently funded the purchase of the ride-on mower to make the work of volunteers a little less labour-intensive.

“It was a good thing to do. It is better to pay it out while you are alive than when you are dead,” he said.
The 92-year-old Bull Creek resident, who played bowls at least once a week until last year, said the game was a challenge and suitable for people of all ages.
