THE first of a series of skateboarding clinics held this month at Willetton Skatepark aimed at empowering an engaging Canning’s youth.

City of Canning Mayor Paul Ng said skateboarding, which was once the activity of youth on the fringe, was now mainstream.

“The participation of a wide spectrum of society, young and old, in this pastime is encouraged by the City of Canning. So we have decided to sponsor this free event in co-operation with Skateboarding WA,” he said.

The clinics are held Tuesday afternoons from 4pm.

Skateboards and helmets are provided and all ages and skill levels are welcome.

People under 18 years of age require a guardian’s approval on their registration form.
