Willetton’s Southlands Boulevarde ringing in the Year of the Dog

LUNAR New Year will be celebrated at Southlands Boulevarde in Willetton on Thursday with a special evening festival.

The Year of the Dog will be honoured with a traditional lion dance, folk arts and crafts, and Mandarin Stars sessions.

From 5.30pm, Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting, lantern making, knots and bracelet making, Chinese tea appreciation and opera mask painting will be available.

Mandarin Stars sessions will be held at 5.15pm, 6.30pm. 7.30pm and 8.30pm with puppet shows, stories, songs, dancing and games for children of all ages.

Miracle Band will perform on stage from 6.15pm to 6.45pm, and Hoyts Cinema will show fantasy comedy the Monkey King 3 – Kingdom of Women in Mandarin with English subtitles from 7pm.

Chung Wah dancers will take to the stage before Ging Mo Academy Lion Dancing performs from 8.15pm to 8.45pm.

The festival will take place at the Level 1 Upper Deck Carpark from 5pm to 9pm.
