Canning Mayor Paul Ng gets magical in the park with the new app.

A POKEMON Go-type application titled Magical Parks will bring dinosaurs and fairies to life at Thomas Moore Park in Wilson.

City of Canning is among the first local governments to launch the interactive app that encourages youngsters to complete activities involving mythical creatures.

The initiative runs from March 4-12 and similarly to the Pokemon Go juggernaut, children will be able to view the park through the screen of a mobile device.

The City selected the Wilson park because of its safe location away from main roads.

The application is only effective within the designated range set by the City, well within the boundaries of the park and children should always be accompanied by an adult when using the game.

The app is made available by the City as part of Parks Week 2017 by Parks and Leisure Australia and NZ Recreation Association.

Mayor Paul Ng said it was good to see people in the park enjoying the app.

“I see kids and adults alike having an enormous amount of fun with this App, and I’ll be trying it out myself,” he said.
