Writer’s Kafe: Riverton-based group helping local authors get published

Emma GearyCanning Gazette

MANY people dream of writing a book but few have the tenacity and time to publish a finished text.

Thanks to a local writer’s group called the Writer’s Kafe, five women have each published books after starting them less than 12 months ago.

The Writer’s Kafe was the brainchild of Riverton-based author Sylvia Marina.

Through her mentorship program, she discovered many of her clients had a long-held desire to write.

She received an enthusiastic response to a call for expressions of interest in establishing the group and so the Writer’s Kafe was born in July last year.

Many of the group’s publications fall into the categories of self-help and motivational books with authors drawing on their own personal and professional experiences for inspiration.

The Writer’s Kafe meets monthly with support and encouragement provided to budding authors.

Five members of the Writer’s Kafe will launch their books at a free event at Cannington Leisureplex Centre located on the corner of Wharf Street and Sevenoaks Street, Cannington on March 29 between 6pm and 8pm.
