I ALSO would like to register my concern (Care Crisis, Sean Rooney, November 15) regarding the Turnbull Government stripping $1.8 billion from the aged care budget.
My husband is in a nursing home. The cost requires all of his pension, plus an extra $150 out of mine. I also have to pay for medication, which is considerable, and any other costs should he require extra care.
I have to maintain my own residence and meet all the associated costs, while trying to prevent the decimation of my life savings, which now pays very little interest.
My concern is that if these cuts come into fruition, the nursing home will raise its fees, making it almost impossible to meet them.
