Opinion: Disappointed that Town is flying rainbow flag

Libby Magill, Victoria ParkCanning Gazette

I WAS very disappointed that the Town of Victoria Park, at a recent council meeting, decided to fly the rainbow flag in support of gay marriage.

My belief is that the decision to vote one way or the other is a personal decision and councils, AFL HQ, private or public companies should not get involved.

Personally, I have no strong views either way on the subject (I have both gay and lesbian friends) but it seems to me that some people jump on the bandwagon because it might seem “fashionable”.

If the right to have an abortion or prostitution was on the agenda, would they fly a flag for those causes? I think not.
