Opinion: Less conditions on WA Seniors card, please

Greg Wilton, BeckenhamCanning Gazette

CAN anyone explain the reason why West Australia is the only state which has conditions attached to a senior’s card.

Family and friends in the east ask “where is your seniors card” whenever they visit and we are out sightseeing. They can present theirs on request in any state they visit.

They still have full-time, well paid jobs and are automatically sent the card when they turn 60.

It’s not a pension, but a way for the government to say thanks for their help over the years.

It would be nice to get a discount on some services. After all, we have paid considerable taxes over the years.
