THE benefits of the amalgamation of certain sections of local governments south of the Swan River do not seem apparent to anyone I have spoken to.
The only clear winner is the City of Perth with the gain of the Burswood casino complex, a big loss to the City of Victoria Park and promoting large losses to the City of Canning.
I voted Liberal at the last State election expecting strong leadership from a decisive Premier, not an autocratic style of leadership that totally ignores the wishes of the residents for no apparent gain and will lead to an enormous cost.
We need our local MPs to stand up and represent the people who voted them in. Enough pressure will change the proposal.
