More than 22 bowlers from across the country will be competing in the national championships.

The competition is divided into three categories ranging from total blindness to vision impaired.

Bowlers compete without gutter guards and use help from their pin spotter guides, who tell them how many pins are still standing.

Competition volunteer Gail Underwood said the group enjoy the competition and meeting others who share the same interests.

‘Our bowlers look forward in meeting up with old friends from the east coast and comparing notes,’ she said.

‘We would love to see more community members get involved.’

The bowlers range from ages 28 to 75.
