Cannington Greyhounds: Eminent Reality takes out Group 3 Young Stars

Pia van StraalenCanning Gazette

EXCITING up-and-coming chaser Eminent Reality produced a brilliant effort to take out the Group 3 Young Stars (520m) at Cannington on Saturday.

It was a huge run from a greyhound with a big future: an impressive combination of stamina, track sense and determination.

A moderate jump saw Eminent Reality shuffled into the rear half of the field in the early stages after Penny Monelli launched sweetly from box seven and broke to a handy advantage.

Eminent Reality pushed forward along the rail but lost momentum in the back straight when he couldn’t get a run through on the inside and was forced wide, while Penny Monelli extended her lead to four lengths over the second-placed Times Square.

The setback was only temporary however and Eminent Reality immediately recovered and he began to gain ground on the leader.

Penny Monelli weakened slightly in the home straight and the race tightened up in the home straight as both Eminent Reality and Times Square came at her.

Eminent Reality was always finishing the stronger.

He punched through the gap between the other two dogs to surge to the front and then powered away to score by two lengths in 29.93.

While short of experience, Eminent Reality has been super impressive from limited appearances; he’s now claimed victory in five of seven starts and has already banked more than $42,000 in stakes for trainer Christine Robartson.

Eminent Reality will now be targeted at further big races on the eastern seaboard.
