Morgan Doecke is aiming for Commonwealth Games and Olympic selection in javelin.

Morgan (14) said it was her first international competition and she was on the right track to qualifying for the Commonwealth Games and the Rio Olympics.

‘Sport is pretty much my life,’ she said.

Morgan said she qualified for the competition through state athletics, and has won the gold medal in javelin six years running.

She has won 13 state gold medals in various events, including two in discus.

Morgan said she started athletics when she was six, mainly training in discus before narrowing her focus to javelin.

She said she liked the uniqueness of javelin.

‘I wasn’t really into running, I liked throwing and it just somehow became my thing,’ she said.

Morgan said her next trip would be to the Australian Institute of Sports in October for three days of training.

The International Athletics meet was held last month.
