Greyhounds: dogged determination wins race for Monaro Monelli

Pia van StraalenCanning Gazette

The David Hobby-trained chaser sat in third position, several lengths behind the leader Wagtail Kate, for most of the race but showed excellent strength at the finish to snatch the silverware.

Monaro Monelli muscled his way past the fading Wagtail Kate in the home straight and was then able to hold out the fast closing Topology to score by two lengths in 30.18.

It was Monaro Monelli’s third win in a row and confirmed the powerful racedog’s credentials as an up-and-coming prospect.
