A DREAM run along the fence carried Milly Keeping to the biggest victory of her short career in the Group 2 WA Oaks (520m) at Greyhounds WA Cannington last Saturday.
The talented dark brindle launched sweetly out of the traps but was initially headed by Victorian chaser Fabregal.
Fabregal was not able to cut across, however, which allowed Milly Keeping to rail through into the lead at the first corner.
Milly Keeping had to fight off another challenge from Fabregal in the back straight but held the front position and she turned for home in the clear.
From that point Milly Keeping was not going to be beaten and she finished off the race strongly to cross the line in 30:34, more than a length ahead of Fabregal and Olivia Benson, as those two greyhounds dead-heated for second.
It was only Milly Keeping’s third win from six career starts. The Terry Erenshaw-trained chaser has now won more than $50,000 in prize money.
