TIMES Square and Senator Monelli will represent the black swan at the Nationals in Adelaide after finishing on top of the WA Championships at Mandurah last Saturday night.

Times Square confirmed herself as the form sprinter in the state with a gutsy victory in the WA Sprint final (490m).

The race did not initially go Times Square’s way as she conceded the early lead to the quick jumping Thunder Rama and was held up in traffic in the mid stages.

Her task was made even more difficult when she was pushed wide on the turn for home but the talented youngster’s will to win carried her to the victory.

Times Square quickly recovered in the straight and she powered over the top of Thunder Rama in the final few strides to claim the race by just under a length in 27.55.

Trained out of Chris Halse’s Nambeelup kennels, Times Square has now saluted in her past four starts and she improved her overall record to 12 wins from 19 attempts.

In the margin in the Distance Championship (647m) was considerably more comfortable for Senator Monelli.

The David Hobby-trained stayer took command of the race down the back straight and then kicked away to score by more than five lengths over the runner-up Serena Fly High in 36.76.
